Georgia Force wins GFL Championship
The Force beat NCC 34-0 to win the 2006 GFL Championship. Eddie Jackson scored from 1 yard out in the first quarter and Caleb Hecox added the extra point to make it 7-0. Shaun Valentine scored in the second quarter and Hecox extra point kick made it 14-0. This was the score at halftime. In the third quarter, Hecox scored on a 28 yard run, making it 21-0, then Valentine scored to go up 27-0. Then Hecox intercepted a Ryan Singer pass and returned it for a touchdown, adding the extra point to make the score 34-0. The Force went unbeaten in league play for the second year in a row and added their 2nd straight GFL Championship.
Georgia Force: Team ReviewLed by Jr. quarterback Eddie Jackson (#5) , the Force has been unstoppable offensively this year both on the ground and through the air. Jackson’s favorite target is Sr. wide receiver Alex Higgins (#9). The ground game features Shaun Valentine (#20) and Justin Reinsmith (#11), but Jackson is the key because he can either run, pass or pitch it for a score from anywhere on the field. Not to be outdone, the Force defense has been excellent, giving up only 4 touchdowns during the GFL season (on 2 passes, 1 run and 1 block punt that was picked up and run in for a touchdown). The defense is led by Higgins at end, Clint Cooper (#98) at defensive tackle and Caleb Hecox (#10) at linebacker, but it’s a team defense which has shown no weakness. The Crusaders offense has been very productive this season with an aerial attack that can move the ball up and down the field. QB Ryan Singer is a prolific passer and has an outstanding corp of receivers led by Stephan Moore and Josh Thompson. Along with Miles Hammon, Jordan Taylor and Aselmo Lozano, this group can catch the ball and break off a big run at any time. The running game features Jordan Taylor. The defense is led by linebackers Brian Fisher and Ben Garrison. Phillip Coursey at nose guard leads a defensive line that is as big as any public school in the country. NCC will miss the play of Coty Comstock on offense and defense, but will be playing this game with a big heart for their beloved teammate and friend.

Saturday, November 4th, was a perfect day for the scheduled Georgia Football League Championship game. Only this day as we stood in the NCC football stadium, it was not two teams across the lines from each other in battle, but several teams on the same line in unity as all said goodby to NCC’s #44, Coty Comstock. You see, Coty died Thursday morning as a result of complications from a seizure.
Coaches, teachers and friends spoke about how ‘passionate’ Coty was. He had a warrior’s heart. He played every minute of the game as if the game depended on it. He helped make every teammate better by always being positive and encouraging. At 16 years old, Coty was a natural leader, a motivator and did everything whole heartedly.
His favorite thing in life was football, so it seemed only fitting that the back drop of his memorial service would be a scoreboard, blocking sleds and a football field freshly lined for the game in which he loved and was prepared to play in. At New Creation Center for Independent Learning (NCC), Coty was schooled in football, but he was also schooled in following the playbook of life…the Bible. He had many questions and a heart’s desire to do the right thing.
The NCC players presented the #44 black jersey to Coty’s father. I have seen the lion’s heart of these players on the football field, but on this day, I saw the broken heart. At 6’2″ and 300 pounds, their captain wasn’t afraid to shed tears for the player who was known to be the ‘heart’ of the team.
Head Coach Stuart Gottlieb summed it up with his description of Coty as having ‘Competitive Greatness’. A person having this quality is one who loves a challenge– the tougher the better. Being at your best when your best is needed. You don’t have to be a superstar or win championships to reach competitve greatness. All you have to do is learn to rise to every occasion, give your best effort and make those around you better as you do it. It’s not about winning. It’s about learning to give all we have to give.
In the sixth game of the 1998 NBA finals, Michael Jordan had the flu, yet he played. During the time-outs, toward the end of the game, he would almost pass out, yet he continued. When he finally won the game–scoring his forty-fifth point of the game with 5.2 seconds to go–he could no longer stand; his teammates had to hug him while he was seated. He was completely spent–he had left it all on the floor–but he had willed his team to play their best.”Don’t worry about a thing,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight the Philistine!” (1 Samuel 17:32a) That was who Coty was.

NCC Crusaders tops North Georgia Falcons 20-7
The Falcons score at the beginning of the second quarter on a Josh Veal one yard run and Robert Davis extra point kick made it 7-0. Later in the second quarter, NCC scored when Jordan Taylor ran the ball in from the 5 yard line. NCC missed the 2-pt attempt making the score 7-6 in favor of the Falcons. The score remained this way until the fourth quarter. NCC took the lead by driving the ball down the field and scored on a Ryan Singer pass to Stephan Moore. The 2-pt attempt failed and the score was 13-7. The Falcons moved down the field and had the ball inside the 5 yard line, but were unable to punch it in. The Falcons had another drive, but an interception stopped the drive and NCC was able to score again on another Singer to Moore pass. The extra point kick by Zach Jeffreys was good and NCC had the lead and the final 20-7 score.
Georgia Force struggles in beating Christian Heritage Lions 30-13
Christian Heritage came prepared to give the Force all they could handle and did so. Scoring first on a Emery Brown long TD run gave Christian Heritage the lead 6-0 in the first quarter. The Force were held in check for most of the first half, but were able to score with less than a minute to go in the first half, taking a 7-6 lead. The Force scored again in the third quarter to go up 13-6, but Christian Heritage came back and tied the score at 13-13 on a Daniel Pierce to Caleb Mahoney long pass. The Force then took the lead for good in the fourth quarter as Eddie Jackson ran for a touchdown to make it 20-13. It looked like Christian Heritage was going to score, but couldn’t get it in. The Force drove down the field, but were stopped short of the goal. Caleb Hecox was called on to kick a field goal and his kick was good, making the score 23-13. For the first time in the game, the Force had a two score lead. Eddie Jackson finished off the scoring when he returned a Caleb Mahoney punt for a touchdown. Caleb Hecox added the point after touchdown and the Force had a 30-13 victory.

North Georgia: Team Review
The Falcons are led offensively by seniors Josh Veal and Jordan McDaniel along with Caleb Jefferson and Robert Davis. Games are won most of the time in the trenches where Michael St.Denis, Dane Tadsen, Zach Howard and Jonathan Ling have done their jobs. Robert Davis handles extra point kicks.
Christian Heritage: Team Review
The Lions, from the city of Dalton, utilize the wishbone offense and are very adept at executing it. QB John Pierce is the key to the offense determining which back will get the ball. The workhorses are Parmelee Ward, Emery Brown and Jarred Cronan who share the load and make it difficult to contain the Lions ground attack. Pierce’s favorite receiver is Caleb Mahoney, who also handles the kicking duties. Mahoney has done an excellent job on kickoffs, punt, field goals and extra point attempts. The Lions defense has been stellar all season.

Game Results for Saturday, Oct 21st
NCC upends Christian Heritage 21-13
It was a great game between the NCC Crusaders and the Christian Heritage Lions. Neither team could put a score on the board for the first quarter and nearly all of the second, however, just before halftime NCC was able to get into the end zone to go up 6-0. The extra point kick was good making the score 7-0 at halftime. Early in the third quarter, Christian Heritage punched in for a score and the extra point kick was good. This tied the score at 7-7 and it stayed this way until early in the fourth quarter. NCC Jordan Taylor scored from short yardage giving NCC the lead at 13-7. NCC failed on a two point attempt. Christian Heritage wasn’t going to be denied as it drove downfield and scored to make it 13-13. A bad snap from center cost the Lions the lead as the extra point kick failed. As the clock ticked away both teams knew they needed to score. NCC drove down the field. Inside the 5 yard line with fourth down and goal with 1:31 to go in the game, Jordan Taylor ran the ball into the end zone to lift NCC to a 19-13 lead. The 2 point conversion was successful and NCC led 21-13. Christian Heritage had one last chance to come back, but came up short.
NCC win puts them into the GFL playoffs and sets up their semifinal game next week against North Georgia. In losing the game, Christian Heritage qualifies for the playoffs and plays the Georgia Force in the other semifinal game. Next weeks games will be played at St.Pius Stadium with the first game at 1:00 between NCC and North Georgia. Following the first game, Christian Heritage plays the Georgia Force.

East Atlanta clips NCA 24-22
The East Atlanta Mustangs ended their season on a high note winning 24-22 against the NCA Lions. Ethan Powell got the Mustangs on the board with a 5 yard run. The brother combination of Reid Hawkins to Joseph Hawkins led to the second Mustang touchdown on a long pass. In the second half, Bryce Burton pass to Justin Poythress scored for East Atlanta. Behind 22-18, Mustang Bryce Burton hit Joseph Hawkins for the game winning score. The Lions scores were on a kick return by James Roy and two James Roy to Wes Harmon touchdown passes. NCA was expected to have a rebuilding year, ending winless in GFL action but winning one game in non-conference play. East Atlanta improved to 2 and 5 for the GFL season, but the Mustangs are young and return most of their players next year.

Bartow had 364 yards of offense with Levi Hibbard leading all rushers with 116 yards on 7 carries. The bulk of the passing yardage came when John Morgan hit Travis Glenn on an 80 yard touchdown pass. John Morgan added two touchdowns, Levi Hibbard rushed for two, Zach Morgan rushed for one and Ben Kirk ran back an interception for a score. Andrew Gifford, John Williams and Ben Kirk led the defense with 6 tackles
CSRA beat East Atlanta 56-0
In a non-conference game, the Colts from Augusta scored early and often to take a 44-0 lead at the half, then coasted the rest of the way.

North Georgia nips NCC 26-24
Friday, the 13th at first, appeared unlucky for the Falcons from North Georgia as on the opening kickoff, Jordan McDaniel, went down with a severe knee injury. McDaniel is one of the captains and plays middle linebacker and running back for the Falcons. In no time at all, the NCC Crusaders air assault struck quickly with touchdowns on their first two possessions to take a 12-0 lead on the passing of Ryan Singer, one touchdown pass was to Stephan Moore and the other to Josh Thompson. The Falcons then drove down the field and a Josh Veal to Robert Davis touchdown made it 12-6 in favor of NCC. Another Ryan Singer pass, this time to Jordan Taylor, led to a touchdown and NCC was up 18-6. NCC again drove the field, however, Caleb Jefferson intercepted a pass in the end zone and the Falcons had new life. A few minutes later, Josh Veal’s pass to Isaac Scheidt in the end zone cut the lead to 18-12 at the half.
Both teams moved the ball up and down the field, but neither could score in the third quarter. With 11:10 in the fourth quarter, the Falcons again scored on a Josh Veal pass to Isaac Scheidt to tie the score. This time Robert Davis was good on the extra point kick and the Falcons led for the first time 19-18. On the next possession NCC looked like they would take back the lead as they drove down the field, however, Josh Veal recovered a fumble at the 2 yard line to stop the drive. On the next play, Veal rambled 78 yards and set up another touchdown pass. This time the score came on a Josh Veal to Michael St.Denis pass to make it 25-18. Robert Davis added the extra point kick and the Falcons led 26-18. NCC wasn’t done yet as Ryan Singer pass to Miles Hammond in the end zone made the score 26-24 and set up a 2-pt attempt by NCC. Ryan Singer’s attempt to make it into the end zone fell short. NCC had one last possession and they were able to drive into Falcon territory, but they came up short and the Falcons won 26-24 in one of the most exciting game of the season.
With God, there is no such thing as luck or unlucky, but there are such things as miracles! Turns out Jordan McDaniel did injure his knee, but miraclulously, there are no torn ligaments as originally suspected.

Georgia Force defeats NCC 28-8
Saturday night was a great night for football and the battle of unbeatens lived up to its billing. The stands were full and there were people lined up along the fence from one end zone to the other. Both teams were able to move the ball up and down the field with a combination of running and lots of passing. Late in the first quarter, the Force scored when on fourth down from the four yard line, Eddie Jackson threw to the corner of the end zone and Alex Higgins made a tough catch for the touchdown. The extra point kick by Caleb Hecox was good and the Force led 7-0. In the second quarter, NCC Ryan Singer hooked up with Stephan Moore on a 61 yard touchdown pass. A Singer to Josh Thompson pass was complete for the 2-pt conversion. NCC 8 Force 7. Then Jackson again found Higgins open and completed the pass for a touchdown. The extra point kick was no good. Force 13 NCC 8. Late in the second quarter, the combination of Jackson to Higgins led to a third touchdown. This time the two point conversion was good and the Force led 21-8. In the second half, Force running back Shawn Valentine was able to get outside the NCC defense and scored from 38 yards out. Hecox kick was good. Final score Force 28 NCC 8.

North Georgia defeats NCA 46-16
Falcons scored on their first possession on a 46 yard TD run by Caleb Jefferson. Josh Veal threw to Michael St.Denis for the two point conversion to make it 8-0. On the Falcons next possession, Jefferson went 65 yards for the score and the Falcons led 14-0. The third time the Falcons had the ball, Veal completed a 19 yard pass to Isaac Scheidt for the score (20-0). Jordan McDaniel made it 26-0 on a 2 TD yard run after gaining 34 yards two plays earlier. NCA got on the board with a 40 yard touchdown pass from James Roy to Wes Harmon. The two point attempt was good by James Roy 26-8. Another Josh Veal to Michael St.Denis pass scored the next TD to make it 32-8, then a Veal to Scheidt pass of 15 yards scored to make it 38-8. A Veal to Dane Tadsen pass was good for the 2-pt conversion making it 40-8. Tim Famillette intercepted a pass setting up the final Falcons scored in which he caught a pass from Veal and lateralled to McDaniel who took it in from 26 yards for the score. Falcons 46 NCA 8. Ben Malik of the NCA Lions then picked up a fumble and ran 60 yards for a touchdown to make it 46-14. The 2-point attempt was good by Jessie Stoutzenberger to make the final score 46-16.

NCC blasts NCA 68-6
Crusaders used their running game to beat the Lions as Jordan Taylor scored 5 touchdown runs and had over 200 yards rushing. The win sets up a meeting next week between the unbeatens, Force and Crusaders.
CSRA upsets Bartow 36-15
The CSRA Colts from the Augusta area won their first game of the year by upsetting the Generals.

The Force scored on their first offensive play. Justin Reinsmith had 3 TD’s. Shaun Valentine had 1 and Eddie Jackson also scored 1 touhdown. Chris Jenkins had one interception and Chris Derepentigny had a block punt. The Force held Christian Heritage in check the whole game and once again were able to shut out their opponent.

North Georgia beats Bartow 39-0
In a game that both teams needed to win in order to position themselves for the playoffs, the Falcons came out on top. Both teams started out tight as Bartow fumbled on the kickoff and Robert Davis recovered the ball for the Falcons. Two plays later, the Generals Enrico Welborn stripped the ball away and Bartow took over. On the next play, Josh Veal of the Falcons recovered a fumble at the 35. The Falcons then drove in for the first touchdown on a 1 yard run by Robert Davis. Davis kicked the extra point and the Falcons led 7-0. The Falcons kicked off and Bartow ran three plays and then had to punt. Veal returned to punt to the 50 yard line. On first down, Robert Davis connected with Isaac Scheidt for a 50 yard touchdown pass. The Davis kick was good and the Falcons led 14-0 still in the first quarter. Late in the first quarter, Josh Veal scored on a 13 yard run and the extra point kick was good again. Falcons led 21-0. The second quarter saw each team trade possessions, but neither scored. Halftime score 21-0. The Falcons took the second half kickoff at their own 42 and 3 plays later scored on a 17 yard touchdown run by Jordan McDaniel. The kick was no good, Falcons 27 Bartow 0. McDaniel, three plays later, returned a fumble 38 yards to the 6 yard line. Caleb Jefferson caught a pass from Robert Davis and scored to make it 33-0. Later, Jefferson intercepted a pass and ran 18 yards to the 2 yard line. Jordan McDaniel ran the ball in for the final score to make it 39-0.
East Atlanta shuts out War Hill 22-0
The East Atlanta Mustangs took home their first win Friday with 22-0 victory over the War Hill Warriors. The Mustangs scored on their first possession, capping off the drive with a 25 yard touchdown pass from Reid Hawkins to his brother Joseph. The PAT was no good. In the second quarter Reid Hawkins scored on a QB sneak from about 5 yards out. In the third quarter Simeon Bynom scored on sweep from 10 yards out. Both 2 point conversions were good with catches from Jake Woods and Michael Levels. The highlights of the offense included great runs by Thomas Veal and a 65 yard pass to Charles Mccown. Good blocking by the offensive line gave Reid Hawkins plenty of time to throw the ball. The defense for the Mustangs held the Warriors from scoring twice near the goal line. Defensive efforts were led by sacks from Thomas Veal, Joseph Hawkins, John Bodin, and an assist from Austin Studebaker. Great pass coverage from Josiah and Josh Kringer, as well as solid defensive play from Samuel Clark, Ethan Powell, Simeon Bynom and Brian Cooper helped to shut down the Warrior attack.

NCC cruises over East Atlanta 52-6
NCC opened up a 37-0 first quarter lead on 5 TD passes by QB Ryan Singer, who accounted for 255 pass yards for the game. Jordan Taylor had 2 TD runs and a pass reception that he took in for a score and finished the night with 96 yards rushing. Stephan Moore caught 3 touchdown passes and had 154 yards receiving, while Chapel had 93 yards receving with 1 touchdown. Ben Garrison (6 tackles, 2 Int), Coty Comstock (2 Int) and Moore (2 Int) led the defense. The score was 44-0 at the half. The Crusaders up their GFL record to 3-0

The Lions of Dalton won easily over the Colts from Augusta to remain unbeaten.
Force 56 Bartow 6
The Georgia Force football team continues to roll up big wins. The Force opened the scoring with a 7 yard TD run by Shaun Valentine, then Eddie Jackson scored on a 20 yard keeper to make the score 14-0. Bartow came back with a 67 yard TD pass from John Morgan to Travis Glenn to cut the score to 14-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Force added two more scores in the second quarter as Eddie Jackson connected on a 34 yard TD pass to Alex Higgins, then right before the half, Jackson scored again on a 2 yard run to make the half time score 29-6.
The second half was all Force. Shaun Valentine scored on a 1 yard run to end a 53 yard drive making it 36-6. Several minutes later he scored on another drive this time again from 1 yard making the score 43-6. Another TD pass from Jackson to Higgins ended the third quarter with the score 50-6. Justin Reinsmith ran 23 yards for the final score and the 56-6 victory.

Game Result for Saturday, Sept 9th
NCC rips War Hill 79-0
The NCC Crusaders went airborne Saturday night scoring 6 times on pass plays in beating the Warriors. NCC upped their record to 2-0 in the GFL while War Hill remains winless. NCC rolled up 506 total yards, paced by an outstanding performance by freshman QB Ryan Singer who accounted for 294 passing yards and 6 TD passes along with one rushing TD. Senior Jordan Taylor turned in another stellar performance with 96 yards rushing and two TD’s. NCC rolled to a 36 -0 1st quarter score and it was 56-0 at halftime. Every NCC player saw action in the game.
NCC’s defense held War Hill to -3 total yards for the evening with 4 interceptions by Steve Smith, Miles Hammond, Ben Garrison & Chapel. They recovered two fumble and had 6 sacks.

Christian Heritage stops Bartow in Overtime 21-20
The most exciting game of the GFL season was played between the Christian Heritage Lions and Bartow Generals. Bartow scored first on a 30 yard pass to make it 6-0 and that is the way the first half ended. Emery Brown of the Lions scored on a 25 yard run in the third quarter and Caleb Mahoney’s extra point kick gave the Lions a 7-6 lead. Bartow came back and took the lead 14-7. Late in the game Jarred Cronan score on a 20 yard run and Mahoney’s kick tied the score at 14. The game ended in a tie and sent the game into overtime. The Lions won the toss and scored when Andrew Bonds took it in from 3 yards out. Mahoney’s kick was good to make it 21-14, but Bartow then had their chance to score and they did score. The Generals elected to go for the 2-pt conversion instead of kicking it to tie it up again, but were stopped short of the goal line and so Christian Heritage won the game 21-20 in overtime to go 2-0 in the GFL standings.
The Mustangs made it close early in the first quarter scoring on a blocked punt to pull within 13-6, but the Force just keeps rolling on as they up their GFL record to 3-0.

NCC defeats Bartow 32-12
The Crusaders used their potent aerial attack in beating Bartow. NCC led 32-6 at the half, then coasted in the second half for their first GFL victory. Bartow loses for the first time this year after winning their first two games.
Christian Heritage stuns North Georgia 24-22
The Lions from Dalton used their ball control offense and a tough defense to defeat the Falcons in a game that was exciting throughout the game. Christian Heritage scored first on a 27 yard field goal by Caleb Mahoney to go up 3-0. The Falcons battled back and scored on a one yard run by Josh Veal to go ahead 6-3 and then Josh ran into the end zone for the 2-pt attempt to make it 8-3. The Lions drove downfield and scored when QB Andrew Bonds, on 4th down, was able to sneak the ball across the goal line. The Lions went ahead 11-8 as Caleb Mahoney’s extra point kick was good. The Falcons took the kickoff and drove the length of the field just before halftime scoring on a Robert Davis 18 yard run to go up 14-11. Davis’ extra point kick made it 15-11 and that is how the first half ended.
The second half started with both teams trading possessions several times. Penalties plagued the Falcons and after trading punts, the Falcons were pinned back deep in their territory. Two more penalties put them inside the 5 yard line and on their next play the Falcons QB fumbled the ball and the Lions recovered on the 2 yard line. Christian Heritage scored when QB Andrew Bonds swept around the end. The extra point kick by Mahoney was good making the score 18-15 in favor of the Lions.
The Falcons again got the ball, but two penalties again stopped their drive and they punted. The Lions had good field position and running back Jarred Cronan scored on a 35 yard run. The kick was no good, but the Lions now led 24-15. The Falcons weren’t done going 66 yards in 8 plays and scoring on a Josh Veal 25 yard run to make it 24-21. Davis kick the extra point to make the score 24-22. An onside kick was recovered by the Lions and their ball control offense was able to run out the clock.
The Lions did not turn the ball over and were very efficient offensively, moving the ball up and down the field using up valuable time. It was a great football game for those who got to see it.
NCA wins first game 22-14 over the CSRA Colts
NCA beat non-conference foe CSRA from Augusta in Cartersville for their first win of the season.
Force beats War Hill 80-0
The Georgia Force improved to 2-0 on the GFL season with a repeat showing of last week’s overpowering offense and crushing defense with eleven touchdowns and two safeties.
The Force defense scored first pushing War Hill back into the endzone in the first possession of the game. On the very next play the Force’s Special Teams made themselves known when Justin Reinsmith (#11) took the kick-off 45 yards for a touchdown. That would be the first of 3 touchdowns for Justin on the night. The Warriors had trouble moving the ball all night long finding it nearly impossible to break through the Force’s defensive line. The defense struck again midway through the first quarter with their second safety when Alex Higgins (#9) sacked Warrior Quarterback Marquel Newton (#23). Then Force lightning struck again when Tim Gordon (#2) returned the safety kick 60 yards for the second Special Team’s touchdown of the night. Seven minutes into the game the Force led 18-0 and the offense had not even stepped on the field.
By the end of the first quarter the Force would score two more touchdowns when QB Eddie Jackson completed a 24 yard touchdown pass to Blake Coughlin (#24) and Caleb Hecox (#10) rushed 46 yards for a touchdown to close out the first quarter 31-0.
The second quarter saw War Hill continuing to struggle offensively but evidenced the lone positive moment of the night for them when they stopped the Force offense from scoring, the only possession the force did not score on. Eddie Jackson (#5) would let his feet do the talking with a 28 yard touchdown run to start a 4 touchdown second quarter. Justin Reinsmith (#11) capped off a short drive with a one yard rushing TD, and the defense added two more touchdowns off interceptions when Justin Reinsmith (#11) picked one off and took it 25 yards and 3 plays later Chris Jenkins (#33) intercepted the Warriors and ran 20 yards for the score. Half time saw the force leading 59-0.
The Force put another 3 rushing touchdowns on the board in the second half by Shaun Valentine (#20), Nick Mauney (#12) and a game ending touchdown by Daniel Casey (#36)

Christian Heritage stops Crown 14-0
The Lions opened their season with a win over the visiting Crown Knights in a non-conference game. Parmalee Ward scored from 55 yards and QB Daniel Pierce added a 1 yard touchdown. Kicker Caleb Mahoney was good on both extra point attempts. The scores came in the first half. The second half was a see-saw battle of fumbles and interceptions as the heat of the day game wore out both teams.
NCC whips CSRA 62-6
The Crusaders scored every time they got the ball and dominated in every phase of the game in winning their second non-conference game. The CSRA Colts from Augusta were playing their first game ever and had a difficult time offensively.

Bartow outlast East Atlanta 25-0
The Generals and the Mustangs were scoreless at the half, but it was all Bartow in the second half as the Generals moved to 2-0 on the year. The second half opened with John Morgan returning the kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. Morgan scored two more times and Andrew Gifford added the fourth touchdown. John Morgan led the offense with 146 yards on 10 carries and the defense with 7 tackles.
Georgia Force blasts NCA 79-0
The Force opened their GFL season by exploiting the inexperience and youthfulness of the NCA Lions on Friday night. The very first play from scrimmage showed it would be a long night for NCA as the Force’s Alex Higgins sacked the quarterback for NCA in the endzone for a safety to make it 2-0.
It just went down hill from there for NCA. After the returning the free kick, the Force’s Shaun Valentine had runs of 15 and 9 yards to help set up a 6-yard touchdown pass from Eddie Jackson to Tim Gordan making it 9-0. On the Force’s next possession Justin Reinsmith had a 45-yard run for a touchdown to make it 15-0. By the end of the first quarter the Force was ahead by the score of 31-0. At the half they had increased their lead to 59-0. In the second half the second and third stringers played during a running clock for the Force.
Georgia Force coach Scott Willis was adamant that he was not running the score up, “Absolutely not,” coach Willis said. “One thing we’re trying to do is get guys work and we got to get all the kids out here and rotate them and that’s what we did. The whole second half we had our second and three string team in, our third string quarterback played the entire second half,” Willis said.
Quarterback Eddie Jackson finished the night with 37 yards passing and two touchdowns one being a 31-yard pass to Higgins. Jackson also had 32 yards rushing and one touchdown. The Force had a slue of players run the ball they were led by Valentine who finished the game with 52 yards on three carries and a touchdown and Chris Jenkins had 51 yards. Reinsmith had 45 yards and a score, Chris Powell had 22 yards and two scores, and Blake Coughlin had 46 yards and a score.
On defense Higgins had one and a half safeties sharing one with Ryan Capes. Chris Hardin recovered a fumble and returned it a yard for a touchdown and Zavior Thompson had a blocked punt.
Caleb Hecox had the kicking duties and finished the night 9-of-11 on extra points.
The Force played near flawless but coach Willis said he saw some things they still needed to work on, “Every one performed. We could’ve done a few things better. We tried to work on our passing game and had a couple of touchdowns. I would have liked to seen a little bit more consistence,” Willis said.
Another thing Willis said that was important to do in a game like this was to work on their weak points, “We have a young line and we got to work on getting that line better and this was a good game to do that. Start them off slow and they will be challenged more and more each week,” Willis said. “We came out and played straight up football and that was our goal. Nothing fancy, learn, take it easy and move on.”
North Georgia rolls over War Hill 65-0
Seniors Josh Veal scored 4 touchdowns on runs of 25, 76, 27 & 34 yards and Jordan McDaniel added 3 scores on runs of 2, 15 & 12 yards as the Falcons ground game rolled for the 2nd week in a row. Josh had 170, Jordan 122 and Caleb Jefferson 129 yards rushing for the game. Riley Davis added a 4 yard run, Caleb Jefferson went 88 yards for a score and Tim Howard ran back an interception 60 yards for a touchdown. Kicker Robert Davis was good on 5 extra point attempts.

Bartow wins Battle of Cartersville
The Bartow Generals beat the NCA Lions 26-0. Zach Smith scored twice, Andrew Gifford once and Mike Minter returned an interception for a touchdown as the Generals won their first game. NCA kept it close for the first three quarters of the game, but couldn’t put points on the board.
North Georgia Falcons defeated the East Atlanta Mustangs 50-0
Josh Veal scored 3 touchdowns and added a 2-pt conversion, Robert Davis scored twice on short runs and threw for two 2-pt conversions, one to Reggie Cherry and the other to Andrew Fleming, and Jordan McDaniel ran back an interception 55 yards for a touchdown and added a 2-pt conversion as the Falcons scored the first four times they had the ball. Ben Keeling scored the final touchdown on a 16 yard run in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs could not get their ground game going, but made good yardage on several passes they completed.

The Force is felt in Boone, NC and Athens, GA
The Georgia Force High School football Varsity and JV players attended the Appalachian State University team camp July 9 thru the 12. Both squads enjoyed conditioning along with 7 on 7 passing games in which the Varsity squad won over half of their games played against high school programs from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. The JV squad also showed their talents as well against JV and Varsity squads.

GFL Linebacker is a player to watch

One of the Peach State’s best unknown prospects is linebacker / running back Jordan McDaniel of the North Georgia Falcons. North Georgia is one of the top teams in the Georgia Football League, a nine-team league made up of homeschool students between 13-18 years of age.
Jordon McDaniel had 134 tackles, 8 sacks, and 4 interceptions as a junior for North Georgia. In fact, North Georgia won the 2005 NACA (National Association of Christian Athletes) Division IV National Championship in Dayton, Tennessee by defeating Cabarrus from Charlotte 42-24 in the Championship game.
McDaniel was one of the main reasons why North Georgia was able to bring home the 2005 NACA championship trophy. McDaniel made the NACA Division IV All-Tournament Team, and was a starter on the GFL All-Star Team.
He had 1,256 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns as a junior. He was even more impressive on defense after posting 134 tackles, 8 sacks, and 4 interceptions at middle linebacker.
McDaniel was very disappointed with his numbers on offense after moving from tailback to quarterback.
“I severely hurt my ankle in the second game of the year,” said McDaniel. “My rushing was very slow. I think I could run maybe a 5.0 during that time. I was moved to quarterback, and I still managed to get 1,200 yards with scrambles and stuff like that. It was better for me to play quarterback where I had a little more room to move around. I had 2,500 yards rushing my sophomore season and it dropped down to 1,200 after my injury. It really effected my season.”
A couple of weeks ago, McDaniel attended camp at Vanderbilt. He didn’t get to tour the facility, but McDaniel did get to go inside the stadium. He was very impressed with Vandy.
“I like it there, I really do,” said McDaniel. “I like the climate. It’s not as humid there as it is in Georgia for some reason. It was a friendly atmosphere. I really like the head coach and the linebacker coach. They are really nice guys.”
Several schools have contacted McDaniel, and he gets invited to nearly every combine or camp that is available to high school prospects. Right now, McDaniel is trying to attend as many of these camps as possible.
What position will McDaniel be playing at the next level?
“I’m probably getting the most attention at linebacker,” he said. “I’m only 5’9″, so I’ve got a feeling I’ll be moved to safety at college. I’d like to keep playing linebacker, because I’m pretty strong and I hit pretty hard. I’m also getting looks at running back, and I’m a good blocker. I just hope to get into a school where I can compete. I’m a tough competitor and I love to compete. I always try to better myself everyday. I’m really looking forward to my senior season, getting to the next level, and working my way up.”
By playing in the GFL (a league made up of homeschool students), McDaniel may not get the same attention that he would have received if he were playing in the GHSA or the GISA. GAVarsity.com asked McDaniel about his thoughts o
Nike Football Training Camp at UGA
Josh Veal, Jordan McDaniel and Michael St.Denis of the North Georgia Falcons attended the Nike Football Training Camp at UGA last Saturday. Over 300 high school player from Georgia and surrounding states competed in speed, strength and agility drills while over 150 college coaches watched them. Coaches from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, Duke, UNC and many others were there to evaluate prospects for potential football scholarships for 2007.
