Crown Knight Offense prepares to score vs North Georgia
Crown defeats North Georgia 28-7
It is said that football is a game of momentum and Friday’s game between Crown and North Georgia showed how correct this statement is. The Falcons took the opening kickoff and stormed down the field. A Tim Howard to Karter Brown pass took the Falcons down to the 4 yard line and what looked like would be a quick touchdown, however, a flag on the play brought the ball back close to midfield. On the next play, Rob Schuler from Crown intercepted a pass and ran to the 22 before being tackled. Then Nick Pretty connected with Brandon Apon on a 22 yard score. The extra point kick was good and Crown led 7-0. The Falcons then fumbled the kickoff and Crown recovered. Nick Pretty went to work again and this time the touchdown pass went to Rob Schuler. The extra point kick was again good and with just a few minutes gone in the game, Crown had a 14-0 lead. Crown had “big Mo” on its side. Both team went back and forth without scoring until less than 1 minute to go in the half, when the Falcons drove down the field completing the drive when Tim Howard ran 8 yards for a touchdown. Reggie Cherry added the extra point and North Georgia had taken momentum and had climbed back into the game just before halftime. The halftime score was 14-7. On the opening drive of the 2nd half, it looked like the Falcons had Crown contained, but a counter play to Fritz Stepat went for 55 yards and the touchdown. Crown had taken momentum back again. Crown 21 Falcons 7. The Falcons were not done yet as they took the kickoff and immediately started gaining big chunks of yardage as they move downfield inside the 30 yard line. However, a fumbled handoff with Crown recovering stopped the Falcons, giving “big Mo” back to Crown. The remainder of the game, Crown was able to thwart the Falcon offense with several interceptions. Crown completed their scoring when Nick Pretty again went to the air and found Apon for the final touchdown making the score 28-7.
