Congratulations to Adam Hardy and Isaac Florence who played for Grace Christian and have signed letters of intent to play football at college. Adam will play at Point University here in Georgia while Isaac will play for Taylor University in Indiana.
North All-Stars win Chamber Bowl 30-22, Mike Randle named MVP
The 2012 Chamber Bowl All-Star Game was held December 22 with four Falcons and two coaches representing the North Team. The North Team defeated the South Team with the help of Mike Randle, Gordon Thigpen, TJ Denny and Zane McDaniel. Roger McDaniel and Hank St.Denis helped coach the North Team. Randle and McDaniel played offense while Thigpen and Denny played defense. Mike Randle was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the game as he scored the first touchdown for the North on a 2 yard run at the start of the second quarter, after making a spectacular catch and run on the play before it. Randle also caught a 33 yard touchdown pass from Skye Overton (quarterback from Johns Creek High School) on the first drive of the third quarter. Randle had over 100 all-purpose yards along with the two touchdowns. Zane McDaniel played slot back and wide receiver in addition to playing on several special teams. TJ Denny played outside linebacker while Gordon Thigpen played cornerback for the defense which held the South to 7 point until the fourth quarter when the score was 30-7.

East Atlanta wins 2012 GFC Championship
The East Atlanta Mustangs beat the Anderson Cavaliers 20-14. The Mustangs fell behind 7-0 with 10:17 left in the first quarter after Davis Cousar threw a touchdown pass to Isaac Moorhouse. Daniel Nguyen added the extra point to give the Cavs a 7-0 lead. East Atlanta answered with a drive scoring from 4 yards out. The extra point was no good so Anderson led 7-6. Late in the first quarter, Tavaris Ricardson scored for the Cavs from 12 yards out. After the extra point was made, Anderson led 14-6. East Atlanta cut the lead to 14-12 after they scored with 6:27 left in the first half when Davante Adams scored from 2 yards out.
The 3rd quarter was scoreless and for much of the 4th quarter it was back and forth up the field for both teams. Anderson had an opportunity to score when they reached the 1 yard line, however, a penalty pushed them back and the Mustangs recovered a fumble inside the 5. The Mustangs then drove all the way down the field and were able to score with 4:46 left in the game. The Mustangs went for two points and QB Kevin Ard connected with Khadyle Curry for the conversion and the final score of 20-14.
GFC Championship game
The East Atlanta Mustangs (9-2) and Anderson Cavaliers (8-2) meet in the GFC Championship. This is the first time each team has made it to the Championship. Both teams feature potent offenses with Anderson averaging 34 points a game while giving up 16 per game. East Atlanta averages 25 point on offense while allowing 10 points a game. The two teams met during the regular season at Anderson’s home field where the Cavaliers beat the Mustangs 35-15. At the time, East Atlanta was unbeaten so the Mustangs are looking to avenge their toughest loss of the season. Anderson likes to spread it out and get their playmakers in space while East Atlanta is more of a run first and pound it offense. Both teams have multiple weapons at running back and at the wide receiver positions. Both teams also have strong kicking games. Both teams were able to capitalize on their opponent’s mistakes in the first round and semifinals of the playoffs. Look for this game to be decided by the team that doesn’t turn the ball over and has fewer mistakes.

GFC Semifinals results for Nov 3rd:
East Atlanta Mustangs 28 Augusta Prep Cavaliers 14
Runnng Back Daniel Compton scored from the 1 yard line to give the Mustangs the early lead and again from 18 yards for a 14-0 lead. Davante Adams added a third score for East Atlanta and a Kevin Ard to Khadyle Curry touchdown pass made the score 28-0 before Augusta Prep was able to put points on the board. Mustang’s kicker Caleb Carter was good on all 4 extra point kicks. East Atlanta had great field position all day and was able to capitalize on it. This is East Atlanta’s first trip to the GFC Championship and their best season (9-2) ever.
Anderson Cavaliers 26 North Georgia Falcons 13
The first half saw both teams moving the ball up the field. In the second quarter, the Falcons scored when Mike Randle broke loose for a 18 yard touchdown. Meshack Ledan added the extra point for a Falcon 7-0 lead. The Cavaliers answered with a Davis Cousar to Isaac Moorhouse touchdown pass. Daniel Nguyen added the extra point to tie it at 7-7. This was the halftime score. In the third quarter Randle connected with Ledan for a 45 yard touchdown to give the Falcons a 13-7 lead, however, on the Falcon’s next possession the Cavaliers Kolby Looney scooped up a fumble and scored. The extra point kick by Nguyen gave the Cavaliers the lead 14-13. The Cavaliers benefited from another Falcon fumble which they converted into 6 points to go up 20-13. The game was in doubt until about a minute to go in the game when Cousar was able to connect with Seth Gurley to give the Cavs a 26-13 victory and a date with East Atlanta in the GFC Championship.

Battle to the finish: Georgia Force 31 North Georgia 24
There is rarely a dull moment when the Force and the Falcons play and there wasn’t one even during halftime of this year’s game. The Force kicked off to the Falcons and Meshack Ledan returned it for a touchdown (Falcons 6 Force 0). The Force were stopped on their first possession, but after punting, they recovered a Falcon fumble to get good field position. Darius Williams scored for the Force to tie the score 6 to 6. The Force scored again on a field goal by Jacob Harper to go up 9 to 6, however, the Falcons drove down and tied the score at 9 on a field goal by Meshack Ledan, which was the score at halftime. Halftime was a blur as the Falcon’s marching band, the Christian Fine Arts of Forsyth (CFAF), performed after the Force Cheerleaders did their routine, then some type of “Party Rock” dancing hit the field and there were teenagers all over the place. When the second half started, the Force drove the length of the field and scored, then added the extra point kick to go up 16-9. Then it was the Falcon’s turn and Meshack Ledan took it to the house for a score. On the kick attempt, holder Zach Waddell took the snap and scored to give the Falcons a 2-point conversion and a 17-16 lead. The Falcons got the ball back and on a long third down play, QB Noah Bieber connected with Gordan Thigpen who ran all the way to the 8 yard line, but was stripped of the ball by the Force’s Darius Williams saving a potential touchdown. The Force QB, Andrew Justus, then completed a touchdown pass to David Allen in the back of the end zone to give the Force the lead again. The Force went for a 2-point attempt and Justus was able to score, Force 24-17. It was the Falcons turn and Mike Randle took a pitch, ran to the left sideline, reversed field and ran all the way to the right sideline where he then took it upfield for a long touchdown run. Ledan added the extra point and it was tied at 24. Late in the 4th quarter, Force running back Darius Williams was able to break loose on a long touchdown run
and after the extra point by Harper, the Force led 31-24. The Falcons mounted another long drive and were at the 2 yard line ready to score when Force defensive tackle, big #68 Bishop Woods, was able to stripped the ball from Falcon QB Noah Bieber and rumble all the way down the field sealing the win for the Force. Between the two teams, there was over 1,000 yards of offense almost evenly divided.

Georgia Force 22 Augusta Prep 21 (East Division)
The Georgia Force, celebrating homecoming, defeated Augusta Prep 22-15. What turned out to be quite the match up, the Cavs took the opening drive, scored and used almost 10:00 minutes of the opening quarter to do so. Late in the second quarter, Darius Williams, of the Force, carried the ball for 50 plus yards for the score. The Force tacked on a two point conversion to make it 8-7. In the second half, the Force, after some big pass completions, went up 15 – 7 on another Darius Williams TD run. However, the Cavaliers answered with a score from Nolan Brandon and a two point conversion to tie the game at 15 all. Early in the fourth quarter, the Force defense made a big stand and forced the Cavs to punt from inside their own 40. The punt was snapped over the kickers head and the Force recovered the ball inside the 10 and on the next offense play, Blake Tate carried the ball for a Force score to go up 22-15. With about 7:44 left in the contest, the Cavs took the ball and used the clock to score with less than 2:00 left in the game. However, the two point conversion run by Nate Pylant was stopped just short of the goal. As Augusta had done most of the evening, they continued to onside kick, but the Force again recovered the ball at the 50 yard line and holding the ball to run out the clock giving them the victory 22-12.

The Falcons scored on two punt returns and a 9 yard touchdown run the first 3 times they had the ball in the first quarter to go up 21-0. In the second quarter, Falcons QB Noah Bieber threw a touchdown pass to Matt Howard and Meshack Laden added a 32 yard field goal and North Georgia led 31-0 at the half. The Falcons added a touchdown pass in the third quarter to go up 38-0 and ended the scoring.

East Atlanta shocks Georgia Force 12-7
The Mustangs from Conyers beat the previously undefeated Georgia Force for the first time ever. The Force took the lead in the first half 7-0, but the Mustangs got a pick six in the third quarter to make it 7-6, then shocked the Force with a long touchdown pass in the 4th quarter.

The Mustangs, seeking to revenge last year’s defeat at the hands of their cross-town rivals, scored 13 points in the 1st quarter on touchdown runs of 25 yards by Justin Glover and 6 yards by Daventa Adams – with Caleb Carter adding an extra point. In the 2nd quarter the Mustangs scored on a 5 yard pass from Kevin Ard to Kenneth Wimberly, a 41 yard punt return by Justin Glover and a 54 yard run by Daventa Adams. Kenneth Wimberly hooked up with Greg Richardson for a 2 point conversion, and Caleb Carter added an extra point kick – giving the Mustangs a 34-0 lead at the half. The 2 teams traded touchdowns in the 3rd quarter – with Justin Glover closing out the scoring with a 40 yard touchdown run for the Mustangs. The victory gave the Mustangs their 4th win of the season for the first time in their 8 year history.

The Skipstone Academy Warriors finally broke their four-game losing streak, defeating North Georgia 8-0 in double overtime at Warrior Field Friday night. Skipstone running back Jamiro Winston scored the game-winner in the 2nd OT on a 6-yard TD run and he also scored the 2-point conversion. “We played outstanding defense,” said Warriors head coach Dan Salvador. “Josh King and Colby Polk did an excellent job blocking and Jamacio Kimble had a big interception to go with 3 receptions for 50 yards.” The game was a defensive battle as the score was knotted at 0-0 at the end of regulation and at the end of the 1st OT period.

Anderson Cavaliers 21 North Georgia 20
It was a great ballgame with the both teams battling all the way til the end. North Georgia took a 6-0 lead with 6:35 left in the first quarter when QB Noah Bieber passed to Zane McDaniel went for a 33 yard touchdown. Anderson was able to tie the score with 1:53 left when Danny Waldsmith ran 5 yards after the Cavaliers intercepted a pass and returned it to the 18. Daniel Nguyen extra point kick made it 7-6 in favor of Anderson. Anderson went up 14-6 with 11:30 left in 2nd quarter as QB Davis Cousar hooked up with Isaac Moorhouse on a 21 yard touchdown pass and Nguyen added the extra point kick.
A Noah Bieber touchdown pass of 8 yards to Meshack Laden with 4:01 left in the half made the score 14-12 with Anderson leading. The Falcons opened the second half with a 11 play drive but couldn’t score. With 11:29 left in the game the Falcons Meshack Laden went 36 yards for a score. Zane McDaniel added the 2-point conversion and the Falcons led 20-14. The Cavaliers were not to be denied as they came back and scored with 7:54 left in the game when Kolby Looney ran in from the 12 yard line to tie the score at 20-20. Nguyen’s kick was good and the Cavs led 21-20. Both teams had chances to score again as the clock winded down, but defensive stands for both teams kept the score as it was. Anderson 21 North Georgia 20.
Augusta Prep 36 Bethlehem Christian 14
Augusta Prep opened its season with a victory over Bethlehem Christian, in Monroe, as Nolan Brandon rushed for 153 yards and scored two touchdowns. Nate Pylant added a 10 yard touchdown run and QB Jack Owens connected on two touchdown passes to Michael Downing (40 and 55 yards).

The Mustangs got off to a great start by scoring three 1st quarter touchdowns – offensively on a 30 yard run by Garrett Ferguson, defensively on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Ernie Greene and via special teams on a 66 yard punt return by Khadyle Curry. Orande Barrow scored on a 3 yard run in the 2nd quarter, and Jerel Nozil closed out the scoring with a 1 yard run in the 3rd quarter – giving the Mustangs their 3rd win of the season.

In a close game between two West Division teams that doesn’t count towards the GFC West Division standings, the Grace Baptist Eagles were able to make a second half comeback and beat the Cowboys from Freedom Academy. Freedom Academy returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown to go up 6-0. Grace tied it at 6 two possession later with a long pass from QB Dylan Brown to Adam Hardy. Freedom Academy returned a interception for a TD to make it 12-6. Freedom Academy then broke off about a 30 yard run to go up 18-6 at the half. QB Dylan Brown was able to hook up with Andrew Daffron twice for TD passes in the second half and then the Eagles converted on the 2-pt attempts to make the final 22-18.
East Atlanta Mustangs 36 HSD Panthers 0
The Panthers opening drive consumed over 11 minutes of the 1st Quarter but ended when the Mustangs defense stiffened inside the 1 yard line. The Mustangs were able to flip field position with several first downs and a 40 yard punt by Caleb Carter – pinning the Panthers inside their 15 yard line. On the 3rd play after the punt, Garrett Ferguson tackled the Panthers quarterback in the end zone for a safety – giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead. After the kickoff, the Mustangs drove 38 yards in 3 plays – capped off with an 8 yard touchdown run by Orande Barrow. A successful extra point kick by Caleb Carter made the score 9-0 at the half. In the 3rd Quarter the Mustangs scored on 3 touchdown runs – 10 yards by Daniel Compton, 1 yard by Daventa Adams and 45 yards by Khadyle Curry. Caleb Carter converted all 3 kicks giving the Mustangs a 30-0 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. The only points in the 4th Quarter were scored on Jonathon Ring’s 28 yard interception return for a touchdown.
GFC Football Games results for Friday, August 17th
North Georgia rolls 42-0 over North Atlanta
The Falcons scored early and often with touchdowns by 5 different players. Meshack Laden took the opening kick and returned it 50 yards to the 45 yard line. Seven plays later TJ Denny ran 8 yards for the score as the Falcons got on the board with 10:43 left in the first qtr. Falcons 6 Saints 0. On the Saints first drive, the Falcons’ Matt Howard recovered a fumble at the 24 yard line and 2 plays later, Meshack Laden scored from the 9 yard line. TJ Denny added the 2-pt conversions. Falcons 14 Saints 0. The Saints were stopped on their next possession and on fourth down they punted. Meshack Laden returned the punt 70 yards for a touchdown. QB Noah Bieber connected with Zane McDaniel for the 2 point conversion making the score 22-0 with 5:20 left in the first quarter. The Falcons had the Saints backed up inside the 10 yard line on the Saints next possession. When the Saints punted the ball was kicked and picked up by Zane McDaniel for the score, however, the officials declared the ball down on the 1 yard line. Noah Bieber scored from the 1 yd line to make the score Falcons 28 Saints 0.
In the second quarter, North Georgia’s Hunter Mitchell took a Saint’s punt and ran 55 yard for a touchdown. Falcons 34 Saint 0. The final touchdown came after Falcon’s linebacker Luke Jarrett intercepted a Saint’s pass and returned it to the 10 yard line. Gordon Thigpen scored on the second play from 5 yards out. Zane McDaniel added the 2-point attempt to make the score 42-0 with 6:12 left in the second quarter.
Georgia Force 21 Young American Christian 14
The Georgia Force began its 2012 season in front of a home capacity crowd taking on a very good and solid Young American Christian School team. The first quarter of the game was controlled by the YACS offense keeping the Force off the field for most of the quarter. Once the Force got its offense going, its first score was called back due to a block in the back call down field. At the end of the first quarter, the game was scoreless. Late in the second quarter, YACS QB James Heft, go loose on what appeared to be a broken play and scored from 70 yards out. The PAT was blocked by the Force defender Blake Tate. Going into the half, the score was 6 – 0 YACS. On its first drive in the third quarter, the Force, from its own 44, gave the hand-off to Darius Williams for a long TD run with 8:21 left in the 3rd quarter. The PAT was good from the leg of Jacob Harper. The score 7 – 6 Force. Late in the third quarter, the Force got another long TD run from Darius Williams extending the lead to 14 – 6. Heading into the fourth quarter, on its first possession the Force fumbled and recovered by Davey Manning of YACS. On the third play from scrimmage, QB James Heft took another keeper off tackle for a YACS TD. YACS went for a 2 points conversion which was good on a run from Cullen Johnson. The score was tied 14 – 14. The Force, on its next possession from its own 20, had a 20 yard run from QB Andrew Justus to the 35. On the next play, Darius Williams took a hand off for a long run to midfield. Then QB Andrew Justus, on a QB read, ran 50 yards for a Force TD which was called back due to a hold down field. However, the Force did not give in. On the next play, Darius Williams made some great moves, taking on two face-mask calls and scored from 50 yards out. The PAT by Jacob Harper was good. The Force regained the lead 21 – 14. On the YACS next possession, David Allan intercepted Heft trying to connect down field to Lee Cockfield. The Force held on to defeat YACS in a hard fought contest.
East Atlanta Mustangs 21 Skipstone Academy 0
The East Atlanta Mustangs defeated the Skipstone Warriors 21-0 in a hard fought, hard hitting game. The Mustangs scored on the last play of the 1st Quarter when Daventa Adams caused a fumble, scooped it up and raced 45 yards for a touchdown. Caleb Carter kicked the extra point giving the Mustangs a 7-0 lead. The 2nd Quarter was scoreless, but not without plenty of excitement. On the Warriors final possession of the half, they ran 9 plays inside the Mustangs’ 10 yard line – due to multiple penalties on the Mustangs – but the Mustangs’ defense held their ground and kept the Warriors out of the end zone. On the first play from scrimmage in the 3rd Quarter, Daniel Compton took a hand off and ran 65 for the Mustangs’ second touchdown. Again, Caleb Carter added the point after – making the score 14-0. On the Warriors next series, the Mustangs forced a punt after a 3 and out. Justin Glover fielded the punt and raced 61 yards for the Mustangs final touchdown. Caleb Carter’s kick made the score 21-0 with about 9 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter. The Mustangs’ defense was able to contain the Warriors for the rest of game – securing the Mustangs’ first victory of the season.

BAXLEY, Ga. — Skipstone Academy dropped its season opener 44-0 Aug. 10 at Appling Christian. The Warriors (0-1) had four turnovers, though running backs Christian Stewart and Christian Salvador each ran the ball well. Rico Corbin led the Warriors on defense. Skipstone’s football team, in its fourth year of existence, has never won a season opener.
