North Georgia 22 Georgia Force 21 (OT)
A rivalry game is defined as one between 2 teams that you can throw out all the records as both teams play as if winning this game is the only game that matters in a season full of games. Thrown in the fact that you have two founding members of the GFC (12 years ago) and add the fact the winner plays in the Championship and you know its going to be a great game.
North Georgia scored first when CJ Washington sped his way to a 45 yard touchdown with 1:55 to go in the first quarter. Scott Richards scored on the two points attempt to make it 8-0 Falcons. With 10:18 to go in the second quarter, Force running back Kieron Graham scored from the 14 yard line to make the score Falcons 8 Force 6. With 3:08 to go before haltime, Scott Richards scored giving the Falcons a 14-8 lead. Both teams battled back and forth but were unable to score again until late in the game with 35 seconds to go Force QB Tyler Hopkins ran in for a 2 yard touchdown to tie the score at 14. The extra point kick was just to the left of the uprights sending the game into overtime. In OT, the Force got the ball first and scored on a Hopkins to Devyn Robinson pass. They chose to kick the extra point and made it, to go up 21-14, however the Falcons got their opportunity and were able to score on a short pass from Alex Johnson to Aaron Rothenberger. The Falcons elected to go for 2-points and Scott Richards was able to find his way into the end zone for the score to end the game.
