The Glory For Christ football league has lost one of it’s founding members as Roger McDaniel, last evening, went to be with the Lord. The head coach for the North Georgia Falcons since it’s beginning, Roger’s passion and love help build homeschool football and in particular, the Falcons, into a recognized brand both in Georgia and throughout the country. As I reflect back on all the times I spent with Roger, he was the definition of selfless to me. He gave so much of his time, effort and money to help people (players and parents) not only with the Falcons but with other teams. He always had time to talk, give encouragement, advice and even a little discipline now and then when it called for it. Roger was a true servant of the Lord.

GFC CHAMPIONS: NORTH GEORGIA FALCONS
The Falcons beat the East Atlanta Mustangs 18-0 to become the 2016 GFC Champions. The Falcons scored to make it 6-0 in the first quarter on a short run by Trey Baker. In the second quarter, Josiah France scored on a short run to make the score 12-0. In the 3rd quarter, linebacker George Mitchell picked up a fumble and took it to the house, giving the Falcons the margin of victory 18-0.
Lanier Christian defeats Coastal Hurricanes 36-8. After leading 10-0 in the first half, the Lightning finally were able to put together their best half of the season by scoring 26 points.
The 2016 GFC Championship Game will be this Saturday, Oct 29th at 5:00 at Gainesville Middle School. The East Atlanta Mustangs will play the North Georgia Falcons. The two teams split their regular season games with North Georgia beating the Mustangs 21 to 6 early in September and the Mustangs knocking off the Falcons 26 to 18 a few weeks ago. It should be a great game!

Ben Harrison recovered a Life Christian fumble in the end zone for the score that tied the game, then Jon Jumper ran in the 2-point conversion late in the 4th quarter to give the Falcons the victory in a great defensive battle.

North Georgia QB Gaddi Gonzalez threw 2 touchdown passes, one to Trey Baker and the other to Dee Kimbrough, to spark the Falcons to victory. A fumble in the end zone recovered by Falcon Josiah France was the other touchdown. East Atlanta’s Mitchell Long returned a kickoff to score for the Mustangs.

The Falcons and Lightning kicked off the football season in Lanier Christian first ever football game. Both teams struggled early but North Georgia was able to put together a scoring drive and scored on a 9 yard run by George Mitchell to go up 6-0 in the first quarter. Falcons running back Josiah France was the workhorse all game and he added a second quarter touchdown to make the score Falcons 12-0. The Falcons tacked on 2 more scores to go up 26-0 at the half. QB Gaddi Gonzalez scored on a 2 yard run after completing a 40 yard pass to Trey Baker while Mitchell added a second score and Sean Beavers added a 2-pt conversion. Gonzalez added a second half touchdown to complete the scoring.
